BLOOD IS THICKER THAN WATER
site-specific text_ile installation, Waldheim, 2026
“They say blood is thicker than water, but don’t we all come from water? We are water roughly 60%, we are blood about 7-8%. Water is what we are, water is where we come from.
They say, remember where you come from and I wonder if they mean the sea, the bacteria, the first mammals maybe?
They say blood is thicker than water but I don’t believe that. “
“Blood is thicker than water” is a 45 m long text_ile installation, pondering on questions of belonging, connection and ancestry. It was exhiited in a forrest near Waldheim in July 2026. The text can only be read by walking along it, allowing the landscape to change how we experience the process of reading and understanding language.
Special thanks to Peter Piek & Johannes Myller for the kind invitation, and Elisabeth Gerdemann for the photos.
